African technology ministers unite at the African Startup Conference in Algiers, exploring the potential of startup visas to fuel innovation and combat brain drain. Inspired by successful models in Canada, the UK, and the Netherlands, the ministers aim to create a borderless Africa, fostering mobility for young entrepreneurs.

During the African Startup Conference in Algiers, technology ministers from Algeria, South Africa, Tunisia, Botswana, and Nigeria announced plans to introduce startup visas, envisioning increased mobility for startups across the continent. The move mirrors successful programs in Canada and Europe. Additionally, the ministers proposed negotiations for an African Charter on brain drain, seeking to retain local talent. A Pan-African Startup Strategy is also on the horizon, fostering a supportive environment for entrepreneurship, along with the creation of an African Founders Fund to boost financial resources for startups.
