The continued devaluation of the naira, a high exchange rate for the US dollar, and a chronic cash crunch have forced the company to make this move. These products earned Unilever Nigeria more than half its revenues in 2021, but the company is now focusing on business continuity measures that reduce exposure to devaluation and currency liquidity in its business model. Unilever's exit from these production lines implies job losses, which could compound Nigeria's employment crisis.
