Access Bank, Nigeria’s largest bank by assets, has received a provisional banking license from the Central Bank of Namibia (BON), effective October 4, 2024. This expansion is part of the bank’s broader African growth strategy, aiming to tap into the opportunities provided by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and diversify revenue streams.

- 🌍 African Expansion: Access Bank plans to expand into 26 countries within the next five years, including the US, France, Hong Kong, and several African markets.
- 💼 Namibia’s Banking Sector: With a robust financial industry valued at N$166.3 billion ($9.47 billion), Namibia presents a promising market for Access Bank to compete against local giants like FNB Namibia and Standard Bank Namibia.
