The DRC-based Altech Group has raised US$18 million in debt financing and grants to continue strengthening its market position and expand access to energy across the country.

Altech Group, based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has raised $18m in debt financing and grants to strengthen its position in the market and expand access to energy throughout the country. The funding will allow Altech to open more than 30 new sales outlets in rural areas, while distributing 180,000 solar products to 900,000 people. The company was founded in 2013 and has a sales and distribution network that covers more than 140 shops across 22 of the country's 26 provinces. It has sold more than 350,000 solar energy products, impacting over 1.7 million people. The debt financing came from the Energy Entrepreneurs Growth Fund (EEGF) Triple Jump and Rabobank, among others.
