Tanzanian startup Safiri is revolutionizing the operations of transit companies by replacing manual processes with digital solutions. Launched in 2022, Safiri's software in local languages, point-of-sale devices, and GPS trackers are digitizing the management of transit businesses. This shift helps operators manage their operations more efficiently and provides customers with the ability to search, compare, book tickets, and send goods online. The startup is also mapping African cities to help travelers navigate their destinations. Safiri has gained traction, with over 200 transport companies and 20 cargo companies already using its platform, issuing over a million tickets. The company plans to expand to other African markets, including Zambia, DRC, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda.
