Karim Beguir, InstaDeep CEO disclosed this yesterday at Deep Learning Indaba, the annual meeting of the African machine learning and artificial intelligence community with the mission to strengthen African AI.

InstaDeep, a leading AI startup, has announced its plans to open an office in Kigali, Rwanda, to bolster AI research efforts in Africa. The new office will begin with a team of six researchers dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence on the continent. Rwanda's commitment to fostering an AI ecosystem, including hosting the ICLR conference, makes it an ideal location for InstaDeep's expansion. The move aligns with Rwanda's AI policy, which focuses on areas like AI literacy, infrastructure, data strategy, and ethical implementation. This expansion follows InstaDeep's acquisition by BioNTech, a German biotech company, which is also involved in significant projects in Rwanda, including mRNA vaccine production.
