Kenyan e-health startup MyDawa has secured a $20 million investment from private equity investor Alta Semper Capital. The funding will be used to expand the company's regional presence and enhance its product offerings with the goal of becoming a comprehensive health platform. MyDawa, which initially started as an e-pharmacy in 2016, has diversified its services to include online and in-person consultations, laboratory services, and its own branded products. The company also plans to open up its technology infrastructure to support other businesses in the health sector. MyDawa has already made acquisitions, including Uganda's Guardian Health, and aims to expand beyond Kenya. The investment from Alta Semper Capital marks the firm's first foray into digital healthcare in Africa, recognizing the sector's potential for significant growth.
