Vodacom has launched Mozambique’s first 5G network. The mobile network operator plans to deploy 5G services at selected sites in Maputo, Matola; the central area of Nampula; downtown Nacala, Munhava, Maquinino and Chipanga neighbourhoods; Beira; and Tete.
Vodacom has launched Mozambique's first 5G network, deploying services at selected sites in various areas of the country. According to Mateus Magala, Mozambique's Minister of Transport and Communications, the technology will significantly improve the quality of the telecommunications service provided in the country, particularly in the development of IoT and smart cities, agriculture and ports. Vodacom is the country's largest mobile operator, and its CEO, Nuno Quelhas, believes that 5G will improve the quality of life and expand financial inclusion in Mozambique, with the aim of covering 75% of the adult Mozambican population by 2025.
