Nigerian start-up Nearpays wins coveted fintech prize at Gitex Africa
Nigerian fintech startup Nearpays emerged as the winner of the Fintech and Blockchain Technology category at the Gitex Africa tech conference in Marrakech, Morocco. Nearpays, a full-service financial payment platform, was awarded the $10,000 prize after beating tough competition. The founder of Nearpays, Victor Daniyan, expressed excitement about the win and emphasized the opportunities it brings for startups in Nigeria. The Gitex Africa Supernova Challenge, which offers a total cash prize of $100,000, aims to promote innovation in categories such as cybersecurity, AI, digital cities, health tech, and sustainability and agritech. Daniyan highlighted the importance of mentorship for startups and credited it as a factor in Nearpays' success. The prize money will support Nearpays in obtaining its payment card system license. Nearpays simplifies online payments, prioritizing a seamless user experience with no extra bank charges.
