Carta, a US-focused equity management platform that was last privately valued at $7.4 billion has invested an undisclosed amount into Raise, a startup building Africa’s Carta.
Carta, an equity management platform valued at $7.4 billion, has made its first investment in Africa by backing Raise, a Nigerian-Kenyan company that organizes ownership data for African firms. Raise manages more than 200 cap tables with assets worth more than $400 million, and the number of companies onboarding on the platform is increasing 60% month-on-month, according to CEO Marvin Coleby. Raise reportedly received the backing of 500 Startups to scale its technology in 2021. The company intends to leverage its partnership with Carta to bring the best customer experiences to African tech and "take African startups from launch to liquidity, faster, and with clean cap tables."
