UK fintech Unlimit makes its second African expansion, acquires Kenyan PSP licence
Fintech company Unlimit has obtained a Payment Solution Service Provider (PSSP) license from the Central Bank of Kenya, following its acquisition of a similar license in Nigeria. Unlimit aims to establish a presence in Kenya to cater to the demand from its international merchants and take advantage of the country's strategic location in East Africa. Kenya's innovative mobile money revolution and robust payment infrastructure make it an attractive market for expansion. Unlimit plans to offer a seamless payment experience by integrating best practices, advanced security protocols, comprehensive merchant analytics, and a customer-friendly interface. The company aims to set the benchmark for excellence and innovation in Africa's payment processing industry. Unlike many foreign fintech firms operating in Africa, Unlimit operates directly with local payment method providers and holds its own licenses, avoiding the need for intermediaries and reducing costs for merchants. The recent rebranding from Unlimint to Unlimit reflects the company's positioning as a borderless payment provider and its expansion of capabilities beyond payment processing to include services such as banking as a service and cryptocurrency solutions.
