Young African Catalysts launches to democratise access to venture ecosystem
Young African Catalysts (YAC), a platform co-founded by Luke Mostert, Head of Investments at Future Africa, and Karl Nchite, a former investor at Goodwell Investments, has launched to democratize access to the African venture ecosystem. YAC aims to enable young Africans to upskill, find jobs, and unlock investment by leveraging data and community. YAC's invite-only VC community now has the lead investor under the age of 35 from 50 leading venture capital funds across Africa, sharing over 250 startup funding deals internally. YAC's Aspiring YAC Fellowships, aimed at young professionals seeking to break into venture capital or operator roles, will disrupt the limited and exclusionary hiring landscape. YAC's curriculum is uniquely designed to incorporate collaboration amongst African start-up founders and culminates in the chance to showcase talents and ideas to VCs in a capstone "Aspiring YAC Demo Day" to secure an internship with them. The YAC Fund I is actively accepting investments, set to launch in H2, with an investment ticket ranging from US$25,000 to US$100,000 in startups that facilitate the development of jobs and infrastructure for the next generation of Africans.
