The Bank of Zambia and the country’s securities regulator are collaborating on digital infrastructure and a policy framework for crypto.

The Bank of Zambia and the country's securities regulator are testing technology to enable the regulation of cryptocurrencies, according to Zambia's Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati. He said a policy framework was required to support the "revolutionary technology" of cryptocurrency, which was key to achieving an inclusive digital economy. Mutati also claimed that Zambia was looking to become a technology hub in Africa, which would attract investment in the sector, and that the country's embrace of digital payment platforms would be a driver for financial inclusion.
