Union54, a digital financial solutions provider, has partnered with Mastercard to launch a social commerce platform called ChitChat. The platform allows consumers in Africa to securely chat with each other using an encrypted platform. ChitChat will offer dollar-based virtual cards developed in collaboration with Mastercard, enabling international transactions. It plans to expand its services to include payments, gaming, dating, and food delivery. The platform's card and payment features will initially roll out in Angola, Tanzania, and Ghana, with more markets to be added later. The partnership between Union54 and Mastercard aims to facilitate the issuance of cards in African markets. Union54 had previously faced challenges, including a $1.2 billion chargeback fraud, but has worked with various clients and aims to provide card issuing services through licensed issuers in different countries.
