The African Seed Trade Association (AFSTA) is a not-for-profit membership organization established in 2000 to represent the interests of private seed companies across Africa. Registered in Kenya as an International Organization, AFSTA also has a regional office for West Africa in Dakar, Senegal. With approximately 100 members, including seed companies and National Seed Trade Associations, AFSTA is at the forefront of advancing Africa's seed industry.

To promote trade in quality seeds and technologies in Africa for the benefit of members and farmers.

To be the principal organization driving sustainable food security through the use of quality seeds for improved livelihoods in Africa.
📌 Key Objectives
- Promote the trade in quality seeds.
- Facilitate the establishment of National Seed Trade Associations in Africa.
- Provide information and resources to members.
- Engage with regional governments and NGOs to advocate for the private seed industry's interests.
- Promote regulatory harmonization across Africa to facilitate seed movement.
- Develop a statistical database on African seed production and trade.
