Ghanaian Startup Kofa Partners with Chinese EV Manufacturer for E-Bikes with Battery Swap Technology 🇬🇭 🤝🏼
Ghanaian startup Kofa has joined forces with TAILG Group, a renowned Chinese electric vehicle brand, to introduce the Jidi electric motorcycle, featuring innovative battery swap technology. Kofa's vision is to establish an accessible, customer-oriented electricity network powered by portable batteries and renewable energy. The Kofa Swap & Go system is a distributed network of batteries and swap stations, ensuring instant access to fully-charged batteries.
🚀 This partnership aims to deploy 200,000 electric vehicles and more than 5,000 battery swap stations throughout Africa by 2030. The initial shipments of the Jidi electric motorcycle are anticipated to reach Ghana by the end of 2023. Thanks to Kofa's advanced batteries and the swap network, the Jidi promises to cut rider costs by up to 30%.
🔋 The Jidi motorcycle is built around Kofa's removable battery, offering an "unlimited battery range" by facilitating swaps at any Kofa Swap & Go station. Throughout the year, Kofa's swap network will rapidly expand in Ghana, with plans to invest in and establish swap infrastructure in multiple new countries by 2024.
🌍 "This is a significant milestone that will accelerate electric vehicle adoption across Africa and contribute to reducing urban pollution. Motorcycles alone emit over 50 million tonnes of CO2 annually. TAILG is the first major EV OEM entering Africa with a ready solution for scale by partnering with Kofa to provide the battery swap & go solution. We are excited to make this happen," remarked Erik Nygard, CEO of Kofa Technologies. 🌟
