Kenya’s E-Gov App Gava Mkononi Will Integrate Over 5,000 Services 🇰🇪
The Kenyan government has launched the Gava Mkononi app, which provides access to over 5,000 government services on smartphones. The app is an extension of the eCitizen platform and is part of President William Ruto's initiative to digitize government services. The app integrates the eCitizen platform and the functions of the Huduma Kenya Service Delivery Programme, which offers access to various public services. The app's name means "government in the palm of your hands" in Swahili. Previously, there were fewer than 400 services available on the eCitizen platform, but now there are over 5,000 services accessible through the app and website. These services come from various government agencies, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Assembly. The app is not only available on smartphones but can also be accessed through USSD and mobile money agency networks. The government also has plans to digitize identification cards in the future, eliminating the need for physical cards. The goal is to eventually eliminate the need for physical visits to Huduma Centres, with exceptions for services like ID card replacements.
