Pro-Sudan hackers attack digital services in Kenya
Pro-Sudan hackers, claiming to be part of the Anonymous Sudan hacktivist group, have launched a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack on several Kenyan websites belonging to government agencies, media, hospitals, banks, and universities. The attack was initiated in retaliation for Kenya's alleged statements doubting the sovereignty of the Sudanese government. The hacktivist group previously targeted Western websites, including Microsoft, in a series of sophisticated DDoS attacks. Digitizing government services in Kenya has made them susceptible to cyber attacks, causing disruptions and potential financial losses. The impact of the attacks is being closely monitored, and some government services have been temporarily affected. Cybersecurity incidents in Africa result in estimated losses of $3.5 billion to $4 billion annually.
