Ripple and Onafriq Forge Payment Corridors Linking Africa, UK, Australia, and Gulf 🤝🏼
Ripple, in collaboration with Onafriq, is set to establish innovative payment corridors connecting 27 African countries with Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). This strategic alliance leverages Ripple's blockchain technology and includes partnerships with Zazi Transfer for Australian transfers, PayAngel for the UK, and Pyypl for GCC member states, such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. In an era where remittances play a pivotal role in cross-border payments to Africa, this initiative is poised to streamline and enhance these vital financial transactions.
Ripple's Senior Vice President of Global Customer Success, Aaron Sears, highlighted the increasing adoption of cryptocurrencies in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in countries like Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa, where digital assets are becoming integral to everyday financial activities. Pyypl, an existing Ripple partner in the on-demand liquidity (ODL) solution, is one of the key players in this endeavor, further solidifying Ripple's influence in the cross-border payment landscape. It's important to note that Onafriq, formerly known as MFS Africa, rebranded due to its acquisition of U.S. mobile payment software developer Global Technology Partners. This partnership aligns with Onafriq's previous collaboration with Western Union for cross-border transactions.
Ripple Payments, previously known as RippleNet, unveiled its latest upgrade during the Ripple Swell customer event in Dubai on November 8, reinforcing its commitment to revolutionizing global payments.
