After initially warning the public against the usage of Starlink, citing the fact that it is unlicensed, the Zimbabwean government has confirmed it is reviewing the satellite internet provider’s licence application.

Zimbabwe's government is reviewing Starlink's license application for satellite internet services. Initially, concerns were raised about unlicensed usage, but the authorities are now considering approval. Fiber-optic connectivity challenges in the country make satellite technology crucial to connect every citizen, especially in remote areas. Starlink plans to launch its services in Zimbabwe in Q4 2023. This move aims to increase internet accessibility and achieve a target of over 75% internet penetration by 2025.
