The Vice President of Global Services at Amazon Web Services (AWS), Uwem Ukpong, led the AWS leadership team in a meeting with top Nigerian officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and Minister of Communications Bosun Tijani. The focus of the discussion was on leveraging the digital sector for Nigeria's benefit. Ukpong emphasized AWS's commitment to supporting the Nigerian government's digital skills training programs and shared perspectives on global digital economy development. AWS has been actively involved in training initiatives, such as AWS Academy and AWS Educate, with a target of training 29 million people globally by 2025. The meeting is part of ongoing efforts, with a follow-up planned in January 2024. AWS, having expanded its client base in Nigeria since establishing a local office last year, continues to drive digital innovation in collaboration with the government, emphasizing support for startups that received 46% of African startup funding last year. 🌍💡
