The Lagos state government has partnered with Oando and EV manufacturer, Yutong to put 12,000 electric buses on Lagos roads by 2030. The first set of the buses have been delivered.
Oando Clean Energy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to roll out electric mass transit buses in Lagos. Lagos is Africa's most populous city and one of the fastest-growing megacities globally. Transportation is the largest contributor to annual CO2 emissions in the city. The two electric buses, manufactured by Yutong Bus Co Limited, can travel 280km at full charge and will reduce carbon emissions while increasing efficiency. Oando Clean Energy is aiming to put 12,000 electric buses on Lagos roads over the next seven years.
