After enduring weeks of disruptions, West Africa sees hope as subsea cables severed since last month are repaired, promising steady internet connection via normal routes.
West Africa recently faced severe internet disruptions due to suspected subsea seismic events near Ivory Coast, leading to cable severance and widespread outages across countries like Nigeria, Liberia, and Ghana. Operators like MTN and Airtel navigated the crisis by rerouting traffic via alternative cables like Equiano and SACS.
However, with the recent completion of repairs for WACS and earlier restoration of Sat-3, connectivity is expected to improve significantly, although challenges persist with other cable systems like MainOne and Ace. Efforts are ongoing to address these issues and ensure reliable internet access for the region.
